Grapes were machine picked in the early morning and immediately crushed into an open top tank. The must was pressed into a tank at the completion of fermentation, and after one racking, was allowed to mature in stainless steel for a relatively short time in order to preserve the fruit of this grape.
The pure fruit expression of Cab Franc is captured here, free of oak-derived flavors. Look for a floral, perfumed nose and a rich, soft burst of flavor. Serve slightly chilled.

Surprise Hit
From Jonathan Looney of Syracuse, New York on .
The bottle describes this as an extremely dry (yet fruity) unoaked Cabernet Franc. Although I generally like Fox Run wines, I was skeptical of how much I would like this wine after reading that description.
However, when I tasted the wine, I was wowed by it. Leaving the wine unoaked really worked and let the fruit tastes shine. And, even though it has essentially no residual sugar, the wine does indeed taste very fruity. In fact, I think people who generally like "semi-sweet" wines would still like this "very dry" wine.
So, bravo to the folks at Fox Run for violating some conventions to produce this surprise hit!
